It is the time of year where the grass and perennials are starting to green up, and it is easy to find plenty of outdoor projects to work on! A few things to consider having on your to-do list for April for your food plots include:

  • Mowing - plots with perennial grasses and clovers often benefit from an early season mowing to remove debris and leaves so that new growth is not impeded.

  • Fertilize - spring is a great time to add fertilizer or lime if needed!

  • Overseed - clover plots can be overseeded with good success chances until about mid April

What not to do:

  • Don't get in a big hurry for SUMMER ANNUALS! Remember to let the soil temps warm until Mid May or so before planting sorghums & sunflowers!
