Sugar beets are a popular addition to many food plots.  They provide both above ground forage, and a below ground bulb for nutrition.  Sugar beets are a moderately challenging species to manage, as they need seeded earlier than the other brassicas for bulb development prior to a frost, but they are also heat susceptible.  Therefore, we typically suggest adding other brassicas or grains to a beet plot to improve overall chance of success.

If you want to try beets, but aren't sure what to add, consider our Sweet Treat mix, as it contains sugar beets. For best results, seed in mid-July to early-Aug at 1/2" depth.
