Chicory is a perennial forb that is long-lived. Chicory can be very palatable and nutritious, as well as, rich in minerals when properly managed. Chicory has a deep tap root, allowing it to survive most droughts. It is best to rotationally graze, or occasionally mow to help keep it vegetative. Chicory should not be seeded in hay fields. It is often too high in moisture content and can cause spoilage.
We typically use chicory in mixtures, and rarely see it seeded alone. If you are wanting a mixture with chicory in it, check out our Gobbler's Grub!
Mix: Seed 2 - 3 pounds per acre at 1/4 - 1/2" depth from Feb to April
Chicory seed may be coated or uncoated depending on current availability.
